A young man in Kakamega has been arrested and charged in court after destroying a vehicle belonging to the mother of his wife.
Alumasi Mwakwanya according to court records damaged the windscreen valued at Sh35,000 of a car belonging to his mother-in-law on April 6.
Alumasi pleaded guilty before Kakamega senior resident magistrate Sylvia Wayodi on Thursday.
He told the court that he committed the offense after his mother mother-in-law assaulted him.
Alumasi told the magistrate that on the fateful day, he had gone to pick some items that his wife had taken to the parent’s home without his consent.
He added that the wife had transferred everything from their house to her parent’s home thus he had gone to pick them on the day.
“Your honour, it is at this point that I got angry, picked a stone and hit her car but now this is a family matter that we can amicably sort it out,” Alumasi said in court.
The court asked for a per-sentencing report before sentencing on April 18.
