A 30-year-old teacher who blatantly admitted defiling a 15-year-old minor at the computer Lab has been sent behind bars for twenty years.
Cedrick Wawire Egesa was sentenced by the Makadara Principal Magistrate Hellen Onkwani following his plea of guilty.
Egesa was a computer teacher at a school located in Nairobi’s Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums, Embakasi.
The court heard that Egesa repeatedly abused the minor sexually on March 16 and 19 this year.
The mother of the minor got suspicious when her daughter suddenly got interested in going to school on the weekend.
And so she took her to school to inquire about what she was doing at school and that was when she opened up about having an affair with Egesa.
Before the court, Egesa stated that he regretted his actions since he was supposed to protect the minor but instead went ahead to do the heinous act.
“The minor since last year’s third term had been making sexual advances to me and at some point, she wrote me letters which I tore them.
“On the stated days this term, the minor came to the lab to seduce and one thing led to another” re recounted.
Additionally, he asked the court to hand him a lenient punishment since he had a wife and a child who were fully dependent on him.
“Having considered your application and the case before you, you erred by molesting the victim instead of teaching and protecting her. I sentence you to 20 years imprisonment. Right of appeal within fourteen days” Onkwani ordered.
