DP Ruto ahead of Raila by 10 percent, Maendeleo Ya Wanaume survey reveals

The latest survey by Maendeleo Ya Wanaume Organization on preferred Presidential candidates has indicated that Deputy President William Ruto has a commanding lead.

According to the organization, the survey was conducted in 11 counties showing that the Deputy President William Ruto is leading by a margin of 10 percent.

The research was conducted in Nairobi, Nyeri, Meru, Mombasa, Isiolo, Kakamega, Kericho, Narok, Kisumu, Bugoma and Machakos.

“MAWE initiated 11 focus groups in the 11 counties who were given the mandate to ask questions to willing members without discrimination on tribe, race or religion and from all walks of life,” Maendeleo ya Wanaume Chairman Nderitu Njoka said

The research was done between 16th May 2022 and 21st May 2022.

“All respondents were required to give only 5 answers and reasons where each focus group leader was required to compile and report to MAWE headquarters,” added Njoka in statement

The questions asked touched on preferred president and deputy and opinion on Raila Odinga and Hon William Ruto as president.

It also focused on the respondent’s opinion on Martha Karua and Rigathi Gachagua as deputy presidents.

“40 percent of men would vote for William Ruto as president and Rigathi Gachagua as his deputy,” the survey said

“30 percent of the respondents said that they would vote for Raila Odinga as president and Matha Karua as his deputy,” the respondents added

However, 30 percent of the respondents were undecided and claimed that it is too early to make choices.

Maendeleo Ya Wanaume members in Kenya currently stand at 119,720 where each county has an average membership of 1,500.

Njoka said the total number of actors in the11 Counties picked were 121 and each member was supposed to ask the chosen questions to 20 MAWE members.

The total number of respondents were an average of 2,420 men who reside in different sub-counties and wards.
