Jamuhuri Day celebrations will not be marked at the County level as usual, the government has announced.
Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said the decision was arrived at since the country is not yet safe from Covid-19 pandemic.
“All the other counties will not hold physical celebration and will be following the proceedings on television from 8am to end, the only celebration will happen in Nairobi” he said
He added that,“We are happy that the progress is good including dais, sitting arrangement and everything that is supposed to be in place by Sunday”
The PS said due to covid-19 challenge only 10,000 people will be allowed at the public sitting area and 1,000 at the VIP section.
