Kenya Revenue Authority officials at JKIA on Tuesday impounded golden jewelry said to have been undeclared and whose value was estimated at Sh31 million.

Thirty suspects, all Kenyan women, were arrested over the 4.88-kg jewelry. Officials said the jewelry was being smuggled through the airport. The suspects were heading to Doha aboard a Qatar Airways flight.

“The women were linked to three other travellers who were arrested at Mumbai in India on August 19 after they were found with one kilogramme of gold that had been smuggled,” a statement from KRA said
