Days after troop of elite General Services Unit that were guarding residences of Deputy President William Ruto were withdrawn, City Private Investigator Jane Mugo has hinted that she willing to assist the DP with security services.
Mugo shared her wish while responding on Ruto’s remarks that he will not be bothered much even if the government assigns him G4S security, team known for courier services and protection of some buildings without any weapons.
Mugo wrote,“Trimo security is willing to offer security for free. Best security comes from God. Some people behave as if they created earth and heaven. Power is temporarily ask us who know. Be humble whoever causing tensions to divide Kenyans”
It is however unclear if Ruto will accept the offer, even though Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai last week stated that those GSU officers manning the DP’s Karen official residence as well as his private homes had been replaced with officers from the Administration Police in what he described as normal changes.
In letter to the IG Ruto protested the move citing that he as the second in command is entitled to GSU security as stipulated in the constitution.
“The law is expressly clear that the GSU is mandated to guard the DP residence. Chapter 8, Section 5 of the Police Service Standing Orders 2017 sets out the responsibilities of the commandant of the GSU to include security of the president, DP, state house and lodges,” the letter from DP’s officer stated in part
While attending funeral service in Nakuru, Ruto told that taking security matter as way of slowing his political progress that he was busy to engage with them and that he will not be bothered even if he will be assigned normal security guards.
