President Uhuru Kenyatta with CSs Monicah Juma, James Macharia and Peter Munya during discussions about the Sh 368 million SGR loan with Chinese delegation

Foreign Affairs Ministry Cabinet Secretary Monicah Juma President Uhuru and Raila Odinga’s visit to China was not mainly yo discuss extension of Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to Kisumu.

This contradicts previous communication by the sate that Uhuru and Raila’s visit was meanrnt to convince China to secure a Sh368 billion loan from China to extend the railway from Naivasha to Kisumu.

“Strange headlines out of Nairobi today! The relationship between Kenya and China is broader than the SGR. In fact the SGR extension beyond Naivasha was never a priority agenda for the current mission to Beijing,” claimed Juma.

Even though, it is reported that China denied Kenya the loan for lack of sufficient proof of viability more so after it emerged that Kenya made Sh 10 billion loss in its first year of operation Mombasa- Nairobi SGR.

Kenyans are opposed to continued ‘loan. appetite by Jubilee administration with indication that the government debt going beyond 5 trillion.
