Kenya’s Special Olympics champions jetted back last night with a bag of medals.
The team achieved a stellar performance in Abu Dhabi with 12 Gold, 8 Silver and 5 Bronze medals in individual and team competitions.
Onesmus Munyao won gold in the half marathon with a time of 1hr 11mins, while Catherine Nyaga walked away with a 50 meter run medal.
At the same time, Kelvin Tanui brought home a 1500 meters gold medal alongside a swimmer Kagondu KariukiĀ who won the 50M freestyle.
Special Olympics helps people with intellectual disabilities to showcase their talent. It started in 1968.
