A form two student is among those who have died during the anti-government protests lead by opposition leader Raila Odinga in Kenya.
The family of the deceased identified as Ashraf said they were still coming to terms with the demise of the boy whom they said his life was cut short on the fateful evening.
“He sustained an injury on his right thigh but during the running battles, we suspect it was as a result of bullet injury,” his brother narrated.
“For now, we have been told to wait until tomorrow when the postmortem will be done to ascertain more about his death,” he added.
And in the wake of the running battles at night, PCEA Emanuel Church and neighbouring mosque ware vandalized and torched.
Police said two other people were seriously injured following the daylong protests in the expansive slums.
In Kisumu, one person is admitted at Jaramogi Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital with gunshot wound on the chest.
At the same time, two people died in the town, one was shot dead while another one was killed by mob after snatching a mobile phone from a man who was walking home after the protests on Monday.
Several other people were injured in Migori town whre police officers engaged the protestors in running battles for the better part of the day.
The ongoing demonstrations that have turned ugly were called by ODM leader Raila Ondinga to push President Ruto’s administration to lower the cost of living and open IEBC servers.
Some leaders have however accused Raila of leading violent protests yet he had termed them peaceful and that his aim was to take petition to State House which he is yet to achieve for two weeks now.
On Monday, unknown goons took over land owned by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta along Thika road and stole some animals before cutting down eucalyptus trees in the ‘Northlands Farm’.
Several leaders have condemned the acts while a section of it claims that attacks that extended to Raila’s firm in Mombasa road were sponsored to win sympathy from Kenyans.
