The female preacher who allegedly died in the house of gospel artiste cum producer was living in fear, her family has revealed.
Elizabeth Githigi died in the house of Paul Mathenge Nderi popularly known as Dishon Murigi on March 18 at his house in Kahawa.
The preacher’s body was found hanging in the wardrobe of Murigi’s house on the fateful day before he took the body to Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home.
The preacher’s family has now claimed that for about five months, Elizabeth was living in fear after she moved to Nairobi from Nakuru where her church is based.
“She met Murigi through music because she used to visit his studios for recording, my sister said the man borrowed Sh700,000 from her so that he can start a church in Juja,” her sister Esther Mugure revealed.
Around December 2022, Mugure claims she received a call from the slain sister that the deal between her and the producer had turned sour after Murigi denied receiving money from the preacher.
“She called me twice and said that I should visit her in Kahawa so that she can show me her properties so that in case she dies because she was being threatened,” the sister claimed.
On March 22, an autopsy was conducted on the body of the deceased to establish what could have caused her death as detectives continue interrogating the producer.
After a daylong exercise by the pathologists at the Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home, it was established that Elizabeth lacked enough oxygen before she died.
It was also established that she had some marks around the neck and other soft injuries on the body among them chest, arms and legs.
“It was also established that she was not pregnant as the producer had claimed and the same had been circulated,” a family representative said.
“Other samples were collected and analysis will be done at government chemists before the real cause of her death is known, in her stomach some stiff like clotted blood were found that is another thing that we hope it will unravel if there was another cause,”
According to the family, Elizabeth’s body was booked at the morgue around 8:45pm by Murigi.
