Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed now wants police to trace and arrest Higher Education Loans Board ( Helb) loan defaulters.
Amina gave a stern warning saying that those who owe Helb should honor their end of bargain or else security enforcement agencies will come knocking.
The education funds board wants to recover over Sh 7.2 billion from 74,000 defaulters.
“We are also going to partner with our law enforcement agencies to track down those holding jobs and yet are reluctant to stand up to be counted as responsible and patriotic citizens who honour their debts,” she said.
She added that the crackdown will also involve employers, meaning those caught up in the dragnet might as well lose their jobs.
She said head will roll any time .
