Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has said the country is prepared to handle Ebola virus in case it is confirmed in Kenya.

Duale said Kenya is already putting up some measures mostly at the border points.

His assurances come amid reports that the United States is planning to send Ebola patients to Kenya for treatment

“We are also putting up holding areas within the borders, in the event we get a case, the country is well prepared for this Ebola,” he stated

Adding, “but I want to ask the citizens that they have a duty to protect themselves, make sure that if any of your relatives who feel sick and has been recently to Uganda or DRC, they should go to the nearest medical facility so that they can be checked,”

At the same time the CS said there is an ongoing tracing of people who visited those countries in the past one month to make sure that we protect the country

He added the virus does not have a vaccine calling on the citizens to be on the lookout adding that the three laboratories are ready and working around the clock to make sure they test any specimen/.

“We also have one laboratory at the border of between border of Uganda and Kenya and South Sudan and Kenyan,” added Duale
