A doctor linked to Nairobi Hospital has been located after reportedly being abducted, with lawyer Cliff Ombeta confirming he was found dumped in the Pangani area of Nairobi.

Dr. Chris Bichage, a senior figure and former board chairman at the prominent private health facility, was allegedly taken by unidentified individuals on Friday night.

According to Ombeta, the doctor was discovered in Pangani shortly afterward, raising fresh concerns about targeted intimidation amid an ongoing dispute over the hospital’s management.

“Chris Bichage was abducted last night. Found him dumped at Pangani. Same board with Obwaka. It is the forceful takeover of Nairobi Hospital,” Ombeta posted on X (formerly Twitter).

He added that the incident followed persistent blackmail and threats from senior officials, despite an existing anticipatory bail order that was meant to protect Bichage from arrest.

The abduction comes against the backdrop of a bitter legal battle over control of Nairobi Hospital.

Bichage was ousted as board chairman in a March 10 meeting, a move he has challenged in court as unfair and illegal. The board replaced him with Dr. Barcley Onyambu.

Earlier court efforts, including a High Court ruling by Justice John Chigiti that referred the matter to the Employment and Labour Relations Court, have failed to resolve the standoff.

Senior Counsel Nelson Havi had earlier raised alarms about a separate but related incident involving another hospital leader, Dr. Job Obwaka a decorated who was allegedly abducted by police earlier on Saturday morning.

Havi claimed both cases form part of a larger effort to seize the hospital’s valuable land. No official statement has yet been issued by Nairobi Hospital or the police regarding Bichage’s condition or the circumstances of his discovery.
