The Ministry of Health has reported that an accident occured at Otonglo area in Kisumu.
The response comes following widespread speculation on social media in relation to the accident.
In a message posted on social media the Ministry confirmed that Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale, stopped at the scene of a road traffic accident to mobilise an emergency medical response to assist the victims.
It is stated that at the time of the incident, the Cabinet Secretary was travelling to Kisumu International Airport from Rarieda.
“Following the accident, immediate rescue efforts were coordinated, leading to the evacuation of more than 19 injured persons to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for urgent medical attention,” MoH posted
Adding, “Unfortunately, two fatalities were confirmed at the scene, while one additional victim succumbed to injuries while being transported to hospital,”
The Ministry said emergency responders, local authorities, and medical teams acted swiftly to provide assistance and ensure that the injured received prompt medical care.
