Heartbreaking moments as a needy girl visits the police station to raise school fees
Afraid of missing out of Grade 10 enrollment, a needy girl from Nandi County was forced to seek help from the police station.
Sandra Jeptoo, was among millions of learners who sat for KJSEA examinations scoring 55 points.
As fate would have it, she landed a spot at Ndalat Gaa Girls Secondary school in Mosop, Nandi County.
But due to her family financial constraints, Jeptoo who wants to be a doctor could not join grade 10 as her single needy mother couldn’t afford to pay fees.
For this reason, Jeptoo has been at home almost three weeks now since other grade 10 students reported to their respective senior secondary schools.
In her last push to raise school fees, Jeptoo was on January 26, 2026 forced to trek Kamanang village in Kipsigak location to Kapsabet police station to seek financial help from men and women in uniform.
It is here that she was received with open arms, offered food as Nandi Central Sub-County Commander Maurice Okul heard her ordeal.
Touched by the girl’s situation, Okul rallied officers who raised Sh40,535 for her to be admitted to school excluding shopping.
At the same time, the officers bought the student a box, a mattress ,a bucket and other personal items apart from raising Sh 10,000 which will partially cater for fees and school uniforms.
