A girl from Biretwonin Sub-location, Baringo North who had remained at home for weeks due to lack of school fees has received renewed hope after an Ireland-based family committed to fully support her education.
Jepkoech, who was admitted to Ruth Kiptui Girls’ High School, had failed to report to school following the death of her father two years ago, which plunged the family into extreme hardship. Her mother has been unable to afford even basic necessities, let alone school fees.
Following public appeals, Carole Chirchir Chirie , speaking on behalf of her twins Tiana and Tiara, announced that the family will sponsor Jepkoech for her three years in Ruth Kiptui Girls.
The twins have also promised to personally support and encourage Jepkoech through their mother and will visit her at school during visiting days as part of mentorship and moral support.
The family currently resides in Ireland, but says distance will not be a barrier to ensuring the girl’s education and welfare are well taken care of.
This was seen as a strong example of compassion and global solidarity in support of education for vulnerable children.
