Two years since world champion Kelvin Kiptum died in a road accident, his family has been split.

More shocking is that Kiptum’s parents have never enjoyed their only son’s sweat; they accuse his widow Asentha of being behind their woes.

Kiptum, the world’s fastest marathoner died on February 11, 204 at Kaptagat alongside his Rwandan coach Gervais Hakizimana at around 11pm, local time.

Kiptum’s death was treated as high profile and he received a well-attended funeral at his home as those who attended promised to ensure that his dues would be settled.

Years on, Kiptum’s parents Samson Cheruiyot and his wife say they have never received a coin that Kiptum bagged before his death.

According to various online sources Kiptum had accumulated about 67 million shillings in prize money and bonuses from his three major marathons.

However his father, Cheruiyot claims that powerful people in government and Kiptum’s wife have colluded to squander the millions alone.

On January, 25, 2026, through a Tik-tok video, Kiptum’s father shared their frustrations asking President Ruto to intervene.

“Nimepitia mengi (I have gone through a lot), and I’m not afraid to say that there is someone in the government from Keiyo who has really frustrated us. He and Asenath went to Rotterdam,” the oldman said in tears

Adding that, “He had Kiptum’s birth certificate and pretended he was Kiptum’s parents. He has really frustrated us and moved to another country. As Kiptum’s parents, we have been mistreated,”

In the video, Cheruyot, was standing next to Kiptum’s burial site, probably optimistic that he might intervene.

“I spell a curse on you and Asenath standing here on my son’s grave…. I want to ask President Ruto, since Kiptum’s death, we haven’t received any form of help or his service money. His car is still at the police station,” Mzee Cheruiyot went on

Begging, ” the police released the car almost two years after Kiptum’s death? Asenath knows everything about that car. Thank you,”

Well, as the oldman tears dry, we hope the truth will come out one day.
