Nairobi Members of County Assembly paralysed activities around City Hall on Tuesday morning after storming into the Office of the Governor.
The more than 50 MCAs marched into the executive office chanting that they had been denied bursaries, allowances and proper budget to run activities within the Assembly.
For this reason, the Members claimed that the county is broke and that they are being forced to use their money to buy water and tissue papers as they await for the disbursement.
Some male MCAs said that they have been borrowing tissue papers from their female counterparts.
The governor who was in his cabinet meeting was forced to cut shirt his meeting to observe the circus before directing them to the office of the Controller of Budget.
Korokocho Ward MCA Absalom Odhiambo said that they are now being forced to spend the rest of their time at City Hall to avoid the pressure from the parents who wants bursaries.
“We will not allow this to happen. We have a lot of pressure in Nairobi County. We want to talk with the governor today and we will shut down this county. Odhiambo said.
Kayole Central MCA Jeremiah Karani Themendu said that the county has suspended several projects as they await the CoB to approve the money, adding that Ward Development Fund has not been released as well.
Governor Sakaja said thousands of students who were benefitting from the bursaries in Nairobi County have been forced to stay at home as their parents look for the alternate sources to raise school fees.
The members walked to the CoB offices only to be told that she was attending another meeting.
