The mother of the 24 year old man said to have been participating in the peaceful demonstrations has painfully narrated how his poor son was shot by a police officer and later succumbed to the injuries.

“I received a call at around 7pm yesterday evening informing me that my son Rex had been shot on his lower leg and he had been rushed to the nearest clinic called Bliss within the archives,” the mother, Jillian Kamau narrated

A friend of his called me using Rex number informing me that they were from work in the evening and they were standing at Archives when they agreed to converge at Afya center just in case of anything.

There and then, the friend told me that teargass was lobbed towards their direction and when they started running, that was when the police shot at him on his leg and he remained behind crying for help.” Munyau said.

Later on, a friend went back to check on him and found that he was bleeding profusely and needed help . A passerby together with the friend struggled to carry Rex.

From a distance they spotted police officers and requested them if they could get an ambulance to rush him to the hosp[ital because he was still alive but they allegedly told them off “let him die there”.

Many have come out condemning the act among the Embakasi east legislator Babu Owino raising concern over increasing cases of police officers wearing masks and taking other measures to conceal their identity while undertaking official duty.

“There can only be one reason why an officer would not want to be known while on the job that they are about to commit a crime for which they don’t want to be held accountable.

Do not be used to breaking the law. If they tell you to kill your fellow Kenyans, tell them to come do it themselves. Your child, sister, or brother could easily be in that crowd. Rest in peace, Rex.”
