Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) boss Ezekiel Mutua has warned that the song ‘Yesu Ninyandue’ is a mockery to God and could attract serious wrath.
The song was released by William Getumbe, a gospel artiste from Eldoret.
Since it hit online platforms, Kenyans have been expressing their anger over the words used by the musician.
Many people have argued that the song is blasphemous and a mockery of Christianity.
The song goes, “Yesu ninyandue, yesu ninyandue, nipate mimba ya imani,”
“Umekubali kunyanduliwa mimi ni bikira kama Mariamu, ulimnyandua hata maji ya uzima, hata mimi baba ninyandue, niingize forever, baraka forever. Yesu ninyandue ingia ndani,” he sings along.
For this reason, Ezekiel Mutua wrote, “ That kind of content should be pulled down from all digital media platforms with immediate effect,”
He added in part, “We cannot allow this madness to become the norm. These are the kind of things that bring mockery to the faith and cause generalised condemnation of the faith.
Mutus regretted that Kenyans have normalised immoral, bizarre and obscene content and behaviour to the extent that for one to get views on social media the easy thing is to do crazy stuff.
“Our moral code is in tatters and we are staring at a crisis. The fact that a sane person can record and distribute such outrageous content speaks to who we are as a society,” he wrote.
Warning that, “We are a sick society provoking the wrath of God. We have allowed indiscipline and blasphemy on our media in the name of freedom of expression,”
