
The Crime Journalists Association of Kenya (CJAK) that brings together reporters specialized in security and investigation stories has elected the new council.
The new leaders take over from those who successfully steered the association for two years when the association was formed.
Those who were elected on Saturday 15 are Zadock Angira as Chairman, Vice Chairperson- Judy Kanaya and Secretary General- Akello Odenyo of The Star Newspaper.
Deputy SG – Manase Otsialo and Treasurer – Fred Kagonye broadcast and digital journalist.
Some of the group members are based in different counties who cover stories away from Nairobi.
The outgoing leaders congratulated the new team and promised to support them to grow the popular association that has earned recognition from government institutions.
“It was nice serving CJAK as chairman for the last two years. I thank all members for the opportunity. Thank you all,” Dominic Wabala, who led the group as Chairman thanked the members.
Others who have been at the helm are Joseph Muraya who was the association’s Secretary General, Shukri Wachu, Mel Myendo Deputy Chair and Mary Wambui who was the Deputy Secretary General.
Since its inception CJAK which also runs ‘Shahidi News website has grown in leaps and bounds to be a popular journalists association in the country.
In their inaugural addresses the news leaders promised to steer the association to the next level.
