There is a Swahili saying that goes, “Mgeni njoo, mwenyeji apone,”
The phrase literally means when a visitor arrives he or she will put a smile on the face of the host with goodies not limited to money.
This is what some traders are wishing it could happen to them following the visit of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to the area.
The County boss was in the area to inspect road repairs in the city among them the dilapidated TRM road which is a stretch of about 1 kilometer.
As he strolled along the road, Sakaja and his deputy stopped to greet some traders who sell chapata where the two were headed over one chapati each as they engaged them in tete-a-tete.
A day later, the traders said they were expecting the City boss will leave them with some few coins but he marched on and left using s different route.
“We hope he will come back and surprise us too because we expected him to leave us with some tips for us to smile too,” one of the traders lamented.
“Gavana ni Mjamo, lazima alisahau kutuona ya soda lakini alifurahia Chapo sana, lazima atarudi atujenge at ya Unga ngano na mafuta,” another trader added.
During the visit Governor Sakaja promised that TRM road will be fixed soon and the traders will never complain again.
He added that the County is sorting out garbage menace in the city in the process of restoring order and conducive environment for all Nairobians.
