Kiambu County allocated Sh 500 million of its budget to support peace in South Sudan.

In what shocked Senators yesterday, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his team further set aside a staggering  Sh 973 million for coordinating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State House functions in which Sh 902m was paid .

In what is laughable and a demonstration of plunder by the county,  Sh 800 million was set aside by Baba Yao for free primary school education.

Interestingly, the Governor was unable to answer even simple questions on 2017/2018 budget  in which a Sh 25 billion gap was identified between his papers and audit queries by the auditor general Edward Ouko.

Waititu found himself between a rock and a hard place as he presented documents which he had no idea about.

He however blamed his political rivals for fixing the numbers to oust him.

It further emerged that he had allocated Sh 180 million for retired Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Moi and Sh 591 million which ought to be used by State Corporations Advisory Committee.

While denying any plunder, Baba Yao claimed that those who prepared his documents might have used a template used by the National Government.

“What I have seen is also new to me. I think it is a misuse of the National Government template because nobody could have assumed that we have such figures in our county. Because we don’t have a budget for those things and therefore there is no expense at all,” Waititu replied.

His finance CEC Kigo Njenga, who is presumably his mathematics magician could not also help the situation.  He equally could not answer the glaring queries in their documents.
