Undercover journalist who exposed graft in African football killed

Ghanaian undercover journalist who exposed the rot in African Football was shot dead in the street of Accra, the country’s capital city yesterday night.

Unidentified men on motorbikes shot Ahmed Hussein-Suale three times as he was driving home. A politician had called for punishment of Suale.

He was a member of Tiger Eye Private Investigations and had investigated corruption in Ghana’s football leagues. His investigative report on cash gifts led to a lifetime ban for the former head of Ghana’s Football Association.

The award-winning scribe was interviewed by global televisions, including in Kenya but he appeared covering his face with beads. His work also led to FIFA banning of eight soccer referees and their assistants and 53 officials were subjected to a 10-years ban.
