A pharmacist is at the brink of being arrested for recording former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while buying drugs without his consent.
The video went viral attracting thousands of views and Kenyans who expressed mixed reactions while others raised concerns over Gachagua’s health.
In response, the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) has said investigations have been launched to find out the culprit who recorded the DCP leader.
In a statement on Thursday, February 26, PSK President Wairimu Mbogo condemned the act as a “serious breach of privacy and healthcare confidentiality.”
She emphasised that every Kenyan, regardless of public profile, deserves confidential care.
“We officially condemn a serious breach of patient privacy involving a public figure at a pharmacy outlet,” Mbogo stated
She emphasized that pharmacies are confidential healthcare environments thus recording patients without consent violates our fundamental ethical & professional obligations.
“PSK wishes to state clearly and unequivocally that recording any client within a pharmacy setting without consent constitutes a serious breach. We extend our regret over the apparent violation that has occurred,” Mbogo said.
