The success of Kenya’s Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti, now known as the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), has resonated both domestically and internationally.
This, according to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkcomen, served as a powerful affirmation of the unwavering professionalism and dedication of the nation’s police officers.
In his statement, Kipchumba reiterated that the success of the Haiti mission, acknowledged both at home and abroad, reaffirmed that our police officers are among the most professional and dedicated.
“This morning, I had the honour of gracing the reception ceremony for 230 officers returning from the Multinational Security Support Mission, now known as the Gang Suppression Force, in Haiti, held at Embakasi A Campus.
The chapter of Kenya’s contribution to international security began in June 2024, when the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, then serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, entrusted the officers with a mission that demanded skill and courage.
CS Kipchumba was elated that the officers’ conduct was exemplary throughout their deployment, . “Their discipline, integrity, and respect for the dignity of the people they served stood out as a beacon of professionalism.
These achievements speak volumes about the character, values, and world-class training provided to Kenya’s National Police Service (NPS)”
During the ceremony, CS Kipchumba condoled and promised to support the three gallant officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
This morning, a moving reception ceremony was held at the Embakasi A Campus for 230 officers returning from their arduous yet successful deployment in the Caribbean nation.
The event was graced by high-ranking officials, including National Security Advisor Dr. Monica Juma, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, and other senior security leaders, to welcome the heroes home.
The officers returned a day after another contingent of 230 drawn from various NPS formations and units left for the Caribbean nation to reinforce contingents already on the ground as part of the GSF.
“This is in line with H.E. President William Ruto’s pledge that even with the transition to GSF, Kenya will not leave Haiti in a disorganized manner.” CS Kipchumba stated.
