Five men, and a woman are being held at the Industrial area as directed by the Makadara Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Stephanie Bett.
The suspects are alleged to be linked with a syndicate of ring leaders of major burglaries across Nairobi, including one foiled one in South B.
The court granted the investigating officer Michael Kokani 21 more days to detain the suspects said to have attempted to break into a house in South B as reported at South B Police Station on November 16, 2025.
Jackline Anzimere, Benson Kyalo, Alex Ndura Mbigua, Hiren Achotal Mbathia, James Gathure Njoroge and Ahmed Ramadan Tandia were all present in court when the application to detain them in custody was being made.
The suspects, as revealed through preliminary investigations, checked into Jackim Estate aboard Nissan X-Trail, ignoring a stop check at the estate entry and sped towards the targeted house.
The arrogance alarmed the guard who promptly informed the estate chairman, who in turn contacted police, leading to a swift arrest of the suspects while attempting to break into a house.
A set of master keys, claw bars, spanners, reflector jackets, and multiple motor vehicle registration plates recovered are believed to be tools used to break into the houses.
Kokani argued that the 21-day detention is necessary to complete investigations.
” The six are linked to similar incidents reported in other police stations across the country. I have been contacted by an OCS from Mombasa, and that the same suspects are persons of interest in Parklands and Kilimani.”
In a rejoinder, the state counsel Christine Kabale informed the court that the sixth respondent Ahmed does not have an Identification card and is believed to be of a Tanzanian national.
The officer hinted that if the suspects were released, their safety would be at stake citing public anger
The court learned that victims from as far as Mombasa have come forward after recognizing the suspects from media reports. This has now compelled police to piece up different pieces of evidence and consolidate them.
