Nairobi residents were on Wednesday shocked after receiving the news that famous Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria was moved from Environment to Customer Care department in Nairobi County.
Mosiria was among ten chief officers moved in the latest reshuffle by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration.
For more than one year Mosirai has been to be among the hardworking chief officers in the county mostly visiting noisy clubs and bars at night to force them comply with environment laws.
In the end, some clubs in estates were shut thus many residents had praised him while others thought he was outshining his boss, Sakaja.
The move is aimed at streamlining service delivery and strengthening management in key county sectors.
The changes, made under Section 45(5) of the County Government Act 2012, affect departments including environment, housing, digital economy, mobility, and social services.
November 18, Sakaja through a notice confirmed that Geoffrey Mosiria has been moved from the Environment docket to head Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.
The Environment docket will be taken over by Hibrahim Otieno, who previously served in the Medical Facilities department.
The reshuffle was carried out under Section 45(5) of the County Government Act 2012, which okays re-organisation within county departments.
The changes cut across multiple sectors, including housing, digital economy, mobility and social services.
However, Machael Waikenda has been retained in the mobility docket and appointed Acting ICT Infrastructure head.
Lydia Mathia shifts to the Business and Hustler Opportunities docket, she previously worked as chief officer at Housing and Urban Renewal.
On the other hand, Sande Oyolo, has been moved to Medical Facilities after serving in Digital Economy and Start Ups, a docket which will be overseen by Wilson Gakuya, previously in charge of Smart Nairobi.
Godfrey Akumali, who had been in Business and Hustler Opportunities, has been reassigned to Housing and Urban Renewal.
Tony Michale Kimani moves from Social Services to head the Social Services and Estate Management sector.l
Clement Rapudo, who headed the City’s Culture, Arts and Tourism sector, moves to Smart Nairobi.
The reshuffle also places Zipporah Mwangi in the City Culture, Arts and Tourism docket after leaving Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.
The chief officers who serve as head of county departments are daily implementation of policies, staff supervision, as well as ensuring smooth delivery of the services.
