Geoffrey Mosiria, the Famous Chief Officer for Environment in Nairobi County has something to smile about, his hardwork is being recognised.
In the latest award Mosiria has been honored with the prestigious Honorary Environmentalist of the Year award at the 2024 Afri-Glo Choice Awards. The grand ceremony took place at the Heron Portico Hotel in Nairobi.
The accolade recognizes his unwavering dedication, outstanding leadership, and significant contributions toward advancing environmental conservation and promoting sustainable development within Nairobi.
Since his appointment as the Environment Chief Chief officer in nairobi, the city has achieved remarkable progress in addressing some of its most pressing environmental challenges.
His efforts have led to a notable reduction in noise pollution, particularly in residential areas where nightclubs and churches previously disrupted communities.
He has spearheaded comprehensive waste management initiatives, including sensitization drives, workshops on transforming waste into viable business opportunities, and collaborations with community organizations to ensure a cleaner city. Additionally, Mosiria has been at the forefront of urban greening efforts, championing tree-planting programs across Nairobi’s public spaces to restore biodiversity and improve air quality.
Mosiria expressed his deep gratitude to the Nairobi County Government, led by Governor Johnson Sakaja, for their unwavering support in making these initiatives possible.
He also acknowledged the essential role played by community partners, environmental advocates, and residents who have embraced the call to action for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Nairobi.
