Erick Omondi was on Monday mid-morning arrested by police officers after he climbed onto a makeshift and threatened to hang himself over high cost of living.
While addressing a huge crowd along Kenyatta Avenue, Omondi who had a rope tied around his neck protested the high cost of living saying the common Mwananchi was the ones suffering yet few individuals were selfishly sharing the big cake.
“Today I will die here and the future generation will remember that I fought for their rights. If authority comes after me today, I will jump off this makeshift and die” he said.
His proclamations made the passersby inch closer to glimpse at what was unfolding. The Anti-riot police who had been alerted arrived and requested him to get down.
Omondi incessantly reiterated that even if he died, the cost of living will go down as a result. “I take over Monday protests until Raila Odinga resumes”
This comes after Raila called off street protest in prospect of a dialogue with the Government.
Omondi was then arrested by police who lobbed teargas to disperse the crowd.
