An officer attached to the Presidential Escort Unit was on Wednesday found dead at his house.
It is suspected that the officer Dennis Kiptoo shot himself around 5am in the morning over unclear circumstances.
According to police report from Juja Sub-County, Kays police station, the officer aged 30 was found lying dead in a pool of blood on his bed while holding on to his Jericho pistol.
At the house officers recovered with two magazines, one loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm caliber and the other one loaded with 13 rds with one round in the chamber.
“He had a gunshot would indicating the bullet having entered through the right cheek and and exited through the back left side of his head,” the police report says
His body was moved to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation awaiting autopsy.
