Popular musician Willy Paul, whose real name is Wilson Ouma Opondo, has once again found himself entangled in legal proceedings after a woman accused him of assaulting her and deliberately destroying her high-end smartphone during a heated confrontation over parking space.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on March 5, 2026, at the Total Energies Survey Branch in Starehe Sub-county, Nairobi. Willy Pozee is charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and malicious damage to property.

The complainant, C.W., alleges that the singer caused her serious injuries on her twisted finger and destroyed her iPhone 17, valued at KSh 218,000.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from a parking disagreement. Wareguru arrived at the location at nearly the same time as Pozee and parked in a spot he had intended to use.

Witnesses and CCTV footage captured how a visibly frustrated the accused alighted from his vehicle, confronted the complainant, and followed her after she exited her car to enter a nearby shop.

In the ensuing scuffle, he allegedly snatched complainant’s phone and smashed it on the ground, damaging the charging system as well as the front and rear cameras, with repairs estimated at Sh 205,000.

The complainant claimed her finger was twisted as she tried to protect her device. She later sought medical attention and reported the matter to the police.

Forensic analysis of the CCTV footage by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ Imaging and Acoustic Unit provided key evidence in the case.

Paul was summoned multiple times to Muthaiga Police Station but allegedly failed to appear, evading authorities for nearly two months.

He was eventually arrested during a routine patrol and released on a Sh 50,000 cash bail to allow him to fulfill a performance commitment.

The case has been marked by further delays. Before entering a plea, Pozee reportedly missed several court appearances, citing ill health.

His lawyer, Mr. Jonson Bosire, requested adjournments to allow his client time to recuperate and indicated that both parties were exploring an out-of-court settlement.

The prosecution pushed back strongly against the repeated delays. “His conduct clearly illustrates that the accused intends to frustrate court proceedings, including disregarding police summons” the prosecutor counsel told the court. “It has now taken over two months for the charge sheet to be prepared.”

On his most recent appearance at the Makadara Law Courts, Pozee denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Renee Kitagwa who released him on a cash bail of Sh 50,000, with the matter scheduled for trial on September 9, 2026.
