Several roads will be closed in Nairobi ahead of the Africa Forward Summit that will be held on May 11 – 12, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
The Summit will be co-chaired by President William Ruto and President of France Emmanuel Macron and will be attended by other high profile figures, including UN Secretary General António Guterres and African Union chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf
While giving and update of the ongoing preparations, Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud said some of the roads expected to be closed within the city centre during the period are City Hall Way, Harambee Avenue and Parliament Road.
Roads that will experience temporary disruption and partial closures include Mombasa Road, Thika Road, and Limuru Road.
“Sometimes we will also have partial closures on the hotels that our delegates, our presidents, will be hosted, including the summit venues within the city,” Mohamud stated
Adding, “there will be intermittent stoppages of traffic to allow passage of motorcades, especially motorcades. Further, there will be restricted access to certain zones to both vehicles, as I earlier mentioned, and pedestrians,”
He, however, assured that businesses will not be interrupted with or closed during the period urging trader to continue with their usual activities.
