The County government workers union has thrown their support behind the recent appointment of Martin Nang’ole as Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, Managing Director.

Nang’ole, a fomer ICT Director was serving in acting capacity since Nahashon Muguna, former Nairobi Water boss left in late 2025.

The county government workers union say Nang’ole is competent to steer the company citing his competency and experience in the water company.

“The Managing Director is not new in Nairobi Water and he underwent the right process from ICT Director, and now that he is taking up this role, we are sure about him,” said Wyclife Onditi, Secretary General of county government workers union

The union’s branch Treasurer, James Mumo, on his part, said Nairobi County and the Water Company Board exhausted all the procedures and legal processes in the appointment.

“For those who did not get the positions of director which were being filled, the applications and the dates of interviews were gazetted and published in the local papers. They should not spread rumours and speculations without evidence,” Mumo said.

Nairobi Water Board chairperson Arnold Karanja, while confirming the appointment of Mr Nang’ole, said that they are confident of his ability to strengthen service delivery and drive sustainable growth.

The board said his appointment follows “a rigorous and competitive recruitment process conducted by the board, reaffirming confidence in his vision, capability, and track record of performance.”

In accepting the appointment,  Nang’ole said in a statement: “I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me by the board. I remain committed to building on the progress made, leveraging technology and innovation to improve efficiency, enhance customer service, and expand access to reliable water and sewerage services for all residents of Nairobi.”
