Four suspects claimed to be connected to the robbery cases with violence and murder of a British national have been arrested and placed in custody.
This followed a swift intelligence-led, multi-agency operation carried out by DCI officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CR&IB) Headquarters in collaboration with their counterparts from the Senior County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Nyali and SCCIO Msambweni (Ukunda).
Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti Kobia, Evans Muthengi Mutaki and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge were apprehended at Ideal Apartments in Ukunda.
Last yeas February, British national Campbell Scott Alistair, 58, arrived in Kenya for a business trip on 15 February. He was last seen the following night with an unidentified man, having been to a nightclub.
Later the body of a murdered Scottish businessman was found in a sack by a Kenyan cattle herder in Mukuyuni along the Machakos–Wote road over 96 Kilometres away from Nairobi city 6 days after he went missing from his hotel.
His body was found stashed in a sack with his limbs bound with rope, he bore head injuries. The exact cause of death was initially inconclusive.
The four suspects have also been linked to a separate robbery with violence involving an American national in Nyali, as well as another violent robbery in Watamu, Malindi Sub-County.
According to the DCI, a forensic evidence has tied them to all three incidents. A search of the residence led to the recovery of several stolen items, including an HP laptop, multiple mobile phones, assorted foreign currencies, credit cards, cheque books from various banks, and PDQ machines.
The crime scene was processed by Criminal Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel. The four suspects, together with the recovered exhibits, are currently in custody at Nyali Police Station as investigations continue.
