Police have launched investigations into the death of a German man in Daini Hotel, Kwale County.
The elderly German identified as Dirk Schafmeister was in the company of Kenyan girlfriend identified as Catherine Wanjiru.
The case was handled by the Tourist Police Unit in Diani after the woman called police to report what transpired.
She stated that two were at Diani Sea Resort and around 5pm in the evening on March, 22, 2026 they checked into the bathroom for a shower.
Wanjiru told the police that it was while in the bathroom when her partner, Dirk collapsed.
Immediately, she alerted the hotel management who provided the ambulance that was used to rush Dirk to Diani Beach hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The German’s body was moved to Pandya morgue for preservation awaiting postmortem on what could have caused his sudden death.
