A suspected mass grave was on Saturday discovered in Kericho county in a move that has left the area residents in shock.
In a police statement seen by Nairobi Journal, the mass grave was discovered at Makubaruni area not far from Kericho town .
According to police, two street boys who usually earn a living by digging graves visited Kericho police station and made a report about the shocking discovery.
They told the police that on 19 March, 2026 a motor vehicle with three occupants arrived at the cemetery and held a lengthy discussion with the watchman.
On 20 March, 2026 around 6am in the morning, the same three people including the driver arrived and requested the street boys to dig a mass grave.
The street boys in their statement to police said the vehicle was carrying about 14 bodies and some of them were mutilated.
They alleged that the bodies were in body bags and were then dumped into a single grave.
Following the report, investigations have commenced and a request for exhumation will be sought on 23rd March, 2023 as efforts to trace the watchman in questions are underway.
