When High Court Judge David Majanja died in 2024, no one knew how much he had left behind.

More shocking is that no one ever imagined that a man of his stature, would leave his extend family fighting for his wealth.

It has now emerged that his parents and siblings are fighting for the control of Sh22 million as he captured in his Will.

The late High Court judge indicated that the money be managed by his youngest brother.

However, Justice Majanja’s siblings argued that the wealth ought to have been distributed equally.

His parents, it is stated are struggling to survive due to lack of access to the funds since they were not mentioned in the will.

The same time a court case that was expected to solve the impasse is dragging.

“The Judiciary, which is supposed to take care of us, is instead causing pain to the very people it is mandated to protect by law. We are in pain,” the late Judge’s father Gerishon Majanja said

Adding that, “They know that I was dependent on David. He used to take care of me. I am speaking from a place of suffering. I have a lot of pain here,”

The pay out was withheld by the Judiciary pending the validation of the will or an interim order directing the release of the funds during the succession process.

In court papers Majanja’s sister has argued that an absolute payment to the young brother will illegally disinherit the other beneficiaries.

But as a legal battle among disgruntled siblings awaits resolution, one way or the other, parents of the late judge want the matter resolved urgently.

“We are suffering as they delay to release that money. We are pleading – they should release that money so that it helps us, so that we can be taken care of,” Gerishom stated.
