Heartfelt Tributes: Cyrus Jirongo’s Family Remembers a Loving, Fearless Patriarch
On December 30, 2025, as family, friends, and dignitaries gathered in Lumakanda, Kakamega County, for the burial of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, who tragically passed away on December 13 in a road accident, his loved ones shared poignant tributes.
The reflections, drawn from memorial services and public statements, have painted a vivid picture of a man who was not only a political powerhouse but a devoted husband and father.
CJ, as he was popularly known, was a generous, fair, and highly spirited man. Jirongo left behind three widows; Christine Nyokabi Kimani, Anne Kanini, and Anne Lanoi Pertet and 38 children.
Nyokabi, in her tribute, hailed her husband as a fearless, bold, and unapologetically honest man of the people.
“CJ the Man—that’s what they called you, a name that captured your larger-than-life personality. To the world, you were courageous, unpretentious, and unapologetically honest.”
Nyokabi insisted that CJ spoke his truth without hesitation, with a charisma that drew people in effortlessly.
She added, “Your outrageous humor and booming laughter announced your presence before you even entered a room. To me, you were the heart of our home, a man whose generosity knew no bounds.
You treated everyone with warmth and respect, regardless of their status. I’ll forever cherish the dreams we built together and the family you nurtured with such profound empathy.”
Nyokabi further affirmed that CJ’s legacy shall endure in their children and the countless lives he uplifted.
Kanini, on the other hand, equated CJ as the pillar of strength and a kind man who ensured no one was left behind.
“My dear Cyrus, you were a man who loved fiercely, worked tirelessly, laughed freely, dreamed big, and cared deeply for everyone around you. You were our source of strength and support, dependable and kind, always present when it mattered most.”
Kanini, aggrieved by his passing, reiterated that Jirongo created harmony and joy, putting the family first and ensuring no one was left behind.
“Your sudden departure has left our hearts grieving in shock and silence, but we find solace in faith. The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” She said this while vowing to honor his resilience and kindness.
Lanoi confirmed to the mourners that CJ made them feel special, loved the three of them equally, and never played favorites, treating everyone with fairness and making them feel cherished.
“Cyrus, you were my constant world and the heart of our home. You loved us. Whenever you traveled, you’d return with gifts for each of us; three iPhones, three Gucci bags, or three perfumes of the same brand in different scents, always thoughtful and equitable.
You made us feel special, like we were the center of your universe. As a husband, you answered my calls on the first ring, shared jokes just to hear me laugh, and sought my advice with genuine respect.”
Lanoi heaped praises on CJ as a father to the children, a greatest anchor who taught them to strive for excellence and never settle for mediocrity.
“The world feels still and strange without you, but your visionary spirit, believing nothing was impossible, will guide us. We thank God for the time we shared; rest easy, my heart.”
