Today, during the 62, Jamhuri day, President William Ruto in his speech boldly highlighted on a ten year roadmap to an improved and modernized infrastructure that will in return provide the foundational support for stronger and more resilient economy.

Delivering his speech at the Nyayo national stadium, the President reiterated that the government have charted an ambitious yet achievable KSh 5 trillion roadmap to transform the infrastructure and secure Kenya’s full economic freedom.

“This roadmap is built on three unwavering priorities—priorities that will redefine how our nation works, connects, and prospers.”
He further enlightened that no country has ever risen to greatness on the back of poor roads, outdated ports, or overcrowded airports.

“Modern transport and logistics reduce the cost of doing business and create trade, business, innovation, and investment hubs.

Our ten-year roadmap for roads, rails, airports, and oil pipeline infrastructure includes expanding strategic highways connecting our major cities, industrial zones, markets, border points, and agricultural areas to move people and goods faster, safer, and more affordably” he said.”

“To achieve this,” he said, “we have mapped out 2,500 kilometers of highways for dualling and another 2,800 kilometers for tarmacking across the country. We are stitching Kenya together—town to city, farm to factory, and Kenya to the greater East African region.

In a bid to turn commitment into action, the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit and Nairobi–Mai Mahiu–Naivasha roads are now under construction; an investment of over KSh 180 billion.

“This 223 km modern dual carriageway, delivered through a public-private partnership, marks a new era of infrastructure delivery in our country and we are not stopping there.”

In February 2026, the Government shall roll out a step in extending the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to Kisumu and onward to Malaba.” Later that same year, the oil pipeline will stretch from Eldoret to Uganda, opening a powerful new transport and trade corridor with our neighbors and the continent.”

“At the same time, we are modernizing JKIA and several regional airports to boost connectivity and ease the movement of people and goods. Our ports in Mombasa and Lamu are advancing toward world-class modernization and commercialization through strategic public-private partnerships.” The President reveals.

With the charge to move forward, the President is confident that the expansion, dualling and modernization of the infrastructure will anchor a stronger, more resilient economy that will unleash transformative development and ensures shared prosperity for every Kenyan.
