A youthful man from Laikipia County, whose photo has been trending online has explained why he was jailed in Nyeri prison.

In an interview with Jamba Tv , Wilson Wambugu aged 27 said he was employed as a gardener at his cousin’s home in Nyeri.

Wambugu said one time he fell out with his cousin after he refused to buy him alcohol at that time he was earning Sh,6000.

” I was using about KSh 5,000 for my mum’s medicines, while the remaining KSh 1,000 was for my own personal effects,” he claimed during the interview

For this reason, he said that he was unable to buy alcohol for his cousin telling him that he could only afford tea.

Wambugu told the channel that this led to a dispute between him and the cousin who reportedly instigated his arrest later in the evening.

“That evening, he came, accompanied by police officers and accused me of hurting his teenage cousins inappropriately,” Wambugu narrated

Even though he claimed that the cousins who he was accused of hurting said the allegations were not true.

He added that the three teenagers were coerced into giving false testimonies against him, but they kept on insisting that it was all a lie.

He was later arrested on account of those accusations and was slapped with an 80-sentence in July 2025, and his next taste of freedom is in 2076.

“I will leave jail when I am 81 years old. How will I make it through? My whole life will be here. I tried to even plead with the judge because I knew I was innocent,” he added.
