A 26 years old lady, working at a construction site is on the spot after she was accused of intentionally burning her 8 year old son with a kitchen knife before starving and chasing him away for allegedly not taking care of his two siblings aged 1 and 3.
Elizabeth Wendy Orwa, shall remain in custody until when the report on the other two children is tabled in court. Meanwhile, the court directed file of a child in care to be opened. The minor who was rescued at night wandering within Donholm area is in safe custody.
According to the charge sheet, the Wendy placed a knife over fire until it was red hot and used it to burn the victim’s thighs and right arm on October 16, 2025 at her rental house in Masimba area in area of Kayole Sub-County.
At the tender age, the victim had endured all manner of gruesome cruelty. He bore scars all over his body. On his thighs and arms were burn scars. Some were attributed to cuttings and hitting.
It is reported that the accused, before she goes to work at the construction site, she would leave the minors under 3 years in custody of the victim, who is also a minor in need of care.
One evening, the accused arrived home from work and found the victim playing outside. She furiously shoved, kicked him before stepping on his neck. The worst part is that she denied him food. The following morning, the accused again served the little one food leaving the victim.
She would chase him away to go outside while they enjoy food. The trend would recur during lunch and dinner time.
On the fateful day, the accused, came home and found the minor playing outside.
As her norm, she grabbed and assaulted him then took a knife , placed it over the flame until it was red hot then pressed it against his both thighs and right arm.
On the day the victim ran away from home, his mother who had since morning made him to starve threatened to burn him again if he goes back to the house.
Having known what his mother was capable of doing, he was not ready for the worst experience and so he left his home with his head held down.
He allegedly wandered his way out to Donholm area where a rider rescued hand took him to a police station where he revealed the scars in his body.
The accused was traced, arrested and taken to court where she appeared before Makadara chief magistrate Beatrice Kimemia who directed that the accused be remanded pending a report on the state of other two children.
Hon Kimemia also directed that a victim’s file which will help in documenting comprehensive history of the minor and case management plan to be opened.
The matter shall be mentioned on November 10, when the investigating officer shall avail report on the state of other two children. The victim is currently in safe custody.
