A Dutch national arrested in Diani, made has made a public apology for shouting and misbehaving badly at the police station.
The foreigner identified as Elwin Ter Horst said he is battling an illness and was upset having not taken food, water and medicine.
While seeking for forgiveness Horst said he loved Kenya and would like to continue staying in the country so as to do business and helping Kenyans.
Horst was on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 arraigned at the Kwale Law Courts after allegedly assaulting his Kenyan girlfriend Angela Atieno Onduru, 32, and being filmed provocatively insulting and spitting at a calm police officer in Diani.
Robinson Langat, a police commander at Msambweni, confirmed that the suspect faces several charges, including assault, possession of narcotic drugs, malicious damage to property, creating a disturbance and being unlawfully present in Kenya.
Moreover, Horst is at the edge of being deported following his uncalled-for misconduct.
In a viral video doing rounds on the internet, Horst was heard hurling insults and spraying mucus at a calm officer at Diani Police Station.
He had been detained on Tuesday evening after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and caused a disturbance at a local hotel.
On the material day, authorities through their report stated that they were alerted by the management of Boma Banda Cottage along Beach Road in Diani after Horst turned violent and damaged the cottage inside his room and locked himself inside his booked room.
By the time the officers arrived at the scene, the caretaker and a security guard had already rescued the Horst’s girlfriend, Angela Atieno Onduru, who had been assaulted.
She was later taken to Diani Beach Hospital for treatment.
Horst is now facing deportation once the court proceedings determined
