President Ruto has revealed that Raila Odinga had been unwell and by September, his health had deteriorated.
In his speech during the burial of the former Prime Minister in Bondo, Ruto said Raila looked so weak around that time and confirmed to him that he was on strong medication.
“He had visited an American hospital in Dubai and the United States and later checked into a Canadian hospital in Dubai,” Ruto said.
He informed the mourners that he kept track of Odinga’s wellbeing while he was on a trip in New York since his health really concerned him. “We had planned to meet with him once he comes back to kenya.”
When he came back to Kenya, he reached out to Odinga who told him that he had gone to Malindi for a short rest following the doctor’s advice.
The president would later join Odinga on Tuesday at his house in Karen Where the latter explained his health struggles.
His wife Ida amongst other family members including his daughter Winnie were present where it was agreed that he seeks medical attention to be funded by the government.
“He first thought of Germany and China, before settling on India, where he said he had friends. We facilitated everything that the former Prime Minister wanted,” Ruto said.
Even though Raila had assured most of the people close to him that he was doing great, since the doctors had asked him to make a follow-up visit in six months.
