The surging numbers of people that thronged the parliament buildings have seen the funeral organizing committee announced that the funeral procession of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga has been redirected to Kasarani Stadium.

This was after the swelling number of mourners breached security at Parliament Buildings, where the public viewing was initially scheduled to take place.

Authorities have since reinforced security and urged members of the public to proceed to Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani Stadium for the official viewing.

The initial plans to have the body taken to Lee funeral home for preparations in regards to viewing were thwarted after the crowd became overwhelming.

The venue for the public viewing of the late Rt. Hon Raila Odinga’s body was changed from Parliament Buildings to Kasarani Stadium. The National Speaker Moses Wetangula and his deputy Gladys Shollei had to beseech thousands of mourners within the building urging them to remain peacefull.

The crowd had already gotten involved in a push and pull game with most having scaled the walls and others hanging on the tree branches while waving twigs.

In a swift rejoinder, MP Babu Owino and Otiende Omolo went atop the main parliamentary gates to urge the charged mourners to calm down and head to Kasarani where the spacing was enough.

Traffic along Thika Road and nearby routes remains heavy as thousands of Kenyans continue to turn up to pay their final respects to the late leader.
