A woman identified as Jane from Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County has something to smile about after her husband returned home, having gone missing after June 25, 2025, protests witnessed in most parts of the country

In an interview with local television tv, Jane said her husband left the house on Wednesday morning to participate in the protests to mark the first anniversary of the 2024 GenZ protests around 8am in the morning.

For ten hours, she says the man never called back as usual, forcing her to visit the nearby police station to inquire if he had been arrested during the protests.

“At the station, I was told he had not been booked in and that they will only allow me to report case of missing person after 24 hours since he was unreachable on his mobile phone,” she narrated

“I went back home to wait for him, but I didn’t sleep the whole night until Thursday morning when I started searching for him,” she added.

The woman said that after asking around Rongai town from 7am, she was unable to trace the husband who was still mteja.

“The next place that I visited was the nearby Kajiado County Mortuary where I was told that man was shot dead around Ongata Rongai but the body was moved to city Mortuary on Wednesday evening, I almost collapsed but deicided to go back to the house so that I could change and go to Nairobi to see of he was the one who was shot dead,” she said

Adding that, “When I arrived in the house around 11am in the morning, he also knocked the door and went straight to the bed without saying anything. I don’t know if he slept in another woman’s house or what really happened, but I thank God he came back alive,”
