Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has called for full investigations into the death of Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve who mysteriously died on Tuesday.

In his message of condolence, Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja described Munuve as a dedicated and passionate servant of the people.

“His voice in the Nairobi County Assembly was firm and always grounded in the pursuit of better service delivery and dignity for the people of Karionagi North.

And while appearing on television interview, the governor insisted that there was need to carry out proper investigations so as to ascertain how the MCA died.

“I don’t know why people call it murder, we have asked for full investigations to understand what happened. I don’t think he had a history of illness,” stated the governor.

At the same time Munuve’s family has revealed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations will now lead the investigations into the death of Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly Joel Munuve.

“We had a meeting with the government and family pathologists at the regional offices at Nairobi area where the Director of homicide is based and we have agreed to conduct the postmodern to be conducted on Friday,” Omari announced

He said since the MCA died outside the hospital before being attended to, it was fair to involve all the parties so as to understand what could have led to his demise.

“When somebody dies in such a manner, it is mandatory to ascertain the cause of death through autopsy, this will involve the DCI’s homicide unit, “Omari explained.

Adding that, “The postmodern will clear any doubts and bring closure to the cause of his death, the homicide experts have sought for services of government pathologist, even though the family, County Assembly and the Executive have an option of getting their own,”

Omari added that since the deceased was a public figure, the law does not bar anyone from getting a private pathologist to oversee the postmortem exercise.

Munuve who has been taking on the County executive over some projects died on Tuesday while being rushed to hospital after complaining of some pain.

His death has sparked a debate among his fellow Members of the Assembly who vowed to conclude some of the statements he had requested on the floor of the House touching on some key projects in the county.
