 US Embassy Warns Of Possible Terrorism Attacks In Nairobi

The United States in Nairobi has warned its Citizens in Nairobi of possible terrorism attacks and kidnappings thus they should exercise caution.

The warning were posted on September 13, 2024 on their official website warning the citizens to avoid crowded areas.

“The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi reminds U.S. citizens in Kenya that they should exercise increased caution due to the risks of terrorism and kidnapping,” the embassy warned.

Adding that, “Locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other foreigners and tourists in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya continue to be targets to terrorists.

The embassy earned that terrorist groups could attack with little or no warning, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, schools, police stations, places of worship, and other places frequented by foreigners and tourists.

“While attacks can occur at any time, concerns are heightened in proximity to anniversaries of prior terrorist attacks, such as September 11th, the September 21st Westgate Mall attack, and the October 7th Hamas attack against Israel,” the warning added.

The citizens were warned to stay alert in locations frequented by tourists/foreigners reviews personal security plans and to beware of surroundings.

Monitor local media for updates, avoid protest areas and demonstrations,to avoid crowds and keep a low profile,”
