Raila, Waiguru reconciles ahead of Uhuru’s Nyanza tour

NASA party Raila Odinga and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru met today at Raila’s Capitol Hill offices to iron out their differences.

This comes ahead of a planned tour of President Uhuru Kenyatta to Luo Nyanza, organised for December following the handshake between him and Raila in March this year.

Waiguru and Raila have been sworn enemies but now after their purported reconciliation Waiguru has agreed to drop defamation suit on Raila.

She sued Raila for linking her to loss of hundreds of millions from National Youth Service kitty during Jubilee government’s first term. Then Waiguru was Devolution Cabinet Secretary.

“Had a meeting with Raila on the outstanding matter in court. In the spirit of cohesion and reconciliation in the country, the matter stands settled” Waiguru said.

Raila, now AU Special Envoy apparently relieved said their meeting was chiefly to resolve the court case, reconcile and talk matters leadership.

“Waiguru has let bygones be bygones and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators. Her case against me is now settled in the spirit of reconciliation that the nation has embarked on” stated Raila.

He added; “We also reviewed the status of devolution in the country and agreed to exchange views frequently on how to address the challenges”.

Since the handshake political temperatures and wrangles have dipped, with sworn political nemesis patching up and others securing state jobs.
