Many people consider a sin to be seen inside a brothel or around a club that has many women waiting for flesh clients, unless checking in for drink or quickie under the cover of darkness.
It is in such places where City man Joseph Mbugua spends most of his time mingling with women of the night with one aim, to vend them pocket friendly panties; “because they are ever busy”.
“I started around 1997 by assisting my brother who was selling earrings, with time I borrowed the idea but focused on applying cutex for women, ear piecing” reveals Mbugua
The father of three added that, “having gained confidence with women I decided to specialize in panties when I realised that no one else was courageous enough to approach sex workers in clubs with what they love yet some are not confident to buy them in open air just like men”
More than decade on Mbugua has realized that most of the panties are bought by men who check in these joints as gift for the hookers,”women also buy but men are ever thrilled when they see me with innerwears for women”
Mbugua does not drink alcohol or has ever partook flesh on sale even since the women of the night call him ‘brother’ whenever he checks in at any joint; he also describe this as respecting the family and his job.
“I move around from Tuesday to Saturday and rest of Sunday with the family seeking divine intervention, it is fun meeting many people daily even though some dismiss in the first meeting but the mood changes after one or two bottles” shares Mbugua who hails from Kiambu County.
In a good night he visits 10-15 clubs and brothels around the city centre where he spends between half an hour or more with the customers. The panties at Mbugua’s hand retails for Sh200 and the most expensive going for Sh1500.
